Kanye West "Runaway"

This one I believe is a game changer ladies and gentlemen. Its a 30 minute video (short film). MJ loved to present his music this way and Yeezy takes it up a level not only presenting one of his songs, but stringing many of his songs together to make this piece of art. Hate him or love him, don't be shocked to see more artists follow in his footsteps and i think the music industry will be behind them. Check it out here:

Rad Omen "Rad Anthem"

My boy Trevor sent this to me the other day and I freaking love it! There is nothing like ronald mcdonald, the king, the jack-in-the box guy, wendy and the Cornel tearing it up at the strip club.......check this out:

Willow Smith "Whip my hair"

What can I say about Will Smith's sperm, its very talented, even if it is raping my childhood (karate kid???) anywho this video is pretty dope, given the fact that she is nine year old little girl........props check it out:

Mr. Hudson "supernova" ft Kayne West

Mr. Hudson is from across the pond and he is also Kayne's protege'. Although he is not a rapper, Yezzy swears up and down that is guy is gonna be the next great pop sensation. He sings the vocals on Jay-Z 's "forever young". Sounds like Sting, looks like a mix between Paul betney and powder. Here is a single from his up coming album "Supernova": Its ok.....i hope someone remixes the hell out of it......let me know what u think interwebs:

Jin- "Angels"

You may or may not remember an asian freestyle battler that went by the name of Jin. If you ever watch BET 106 and Park, every friday they would have freestyle battles and this little asian dude was unstoppable. So much so that he was offered a record deal with Ruff Ryders which had DMX and EVE in their primes. I'm guessing the market for asian gangster rap was limited and Jin's career never took off. Fast forward to 2010 and we find our man Jin back in the game this time as a conscience rapper with a message from God. Color me interested. I believe in God and the Lord does work in mysterious ways, so why not in the form of an asian rapper. Here is Jin's first single "Angels" :

Katy Perry in Esquire

Hello loyal blog fans. Sorry I have been mia for the last two months, but with good reason. It is summertime and you know that means amazing tours and shows. I have seen Movement in Detroit and Bonnaroo in Tennessee. Tons of great music. My own dj career is ramping up as well so I have been busy rocking the dance floor. That being said I will make a conscience effort to make regular posts if not daily then as much as possible within the week. For now let me start back up with a video of Katy Perry. Enjoy!

NEW Banger from DUCK SAUCE!!!

If ya'all ain't familiar yet, Duck Sauce is a collaboration between A-Trak and Armand Van Helden (both legends in their own right). They released an EP last summer that was absolutely bangin!!! And there back at it again now about to drop another single called 'Barbara Streisand' ... this track has not been released to the public yet but has gotten a lot of buzz on the internet as A-Trak and Armand have been droppin it in their sets since SXSW and WMC, so much so that this dude O-God recreated the song to the best of his ability based on the youtube videos. It seems like he did a pretty good job and this remix (or whatever u wanna call it) will have to hold us off untill the official release. This track is sure to be another summer banger just as 'aNYway' was last summer ....

Wale-"Freaks"(bird peterson remix)

Im not the biggest Wale fan in the world, I guess I just haven't heard him over the right track yet. This track is a good fit for our friend Wale. I'm digging the harps in the background and I also think his rap is above average. Check out the link below and enjoy!

Diggy "Made you look" (freestyle)

I don't know if you have ever seen Run's House on Mtv, but Diggy is Rev Run middle child. At first I could not wrap my head around what this richy rich, son of one of the Godfathers of rap could possibly bring to the table. I watched the video and I was impressed. The kid definitely has what it takes. I freestyle from time to time and I don't truly believe this was off the cuff but nevertheless a solid display or wordsmanship. Check out Diggy "Made you look" (flow stoopid) freestyle:

The Arctic Monkeys "My Propeller"

Remember when The Arctic Monkeys were suppose to come out of the UK and be bigger than the Beatles? I do. Those are tough shoe to fill. Even though the monkeys are not quite on that level yet, they are still putting out some great music. The track I've posted for you guys today is call "My Propeller" off of their new album "Humbug". It a little more melodramatic then the usual poppy dance anthems the Monkeys usually put out but I definitely like the sound. Check out here:

The Black Keys "Tighten Up"

The Royal Bangs

The Royal Bangs draw comparisons to some of the most popular bands today: MGMT, Radiohead, Animal Collective and Passion Pit. There is more to them than meets the ear however. When the guys switch gears from electronic infused dance rock over to a standard drum set like on the songs “Brother” and “War Bells” some funky Tennessee flavor shines through.

Their latest album, Let it Beep was widely praised in United Kingdom publications. Here in the states they have been slow to catch on but some that took notice at Bonnaroo 2008 were impressed nonetheless.

The band’s guitarist Sam Stratton took a second to reflect on his career as a musician so far while taking a small break from touring to return home for the holidays.

Q: What has life as a musician been like compared to how you thought it would be?

A: “I recently got engaged, so all of this time on the road has been more taxing on my relationship than I expected. We’re usually on the road for about a month before we take time off. But I can’t really complain because I get to make music for a living. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

“I also didn’t really expect such a difference between touring in Europe and the United States. Over there, rock is still #1, so the whole climate and reaction to our music is different.”

Q: Any weird stories from being out on the road?

A: “ Back when we used to book our own shows just starting out, we played a show at some small time record store. The only person there was the single employee the store had. After we were playing for a while, he disappeared in the back and came out with this weird puppet and started dancing with it. So it was just us the band, and this kid dancing with a puppet that looked like a more obscene version of The Count from Sesame Street… it was creepy.”

Q: Wow. What was it like the first time you guys stopped in Detroit?

A: “We played at Corktown Tavern. All I remember is that they had plexi glass at the Little Caesars when we stopped to get a pizza. We had never seen that before. We just wondered what kind of heartless bastard would rob a Little Caesars? 5 dollar pizzas are a really good deal.”

Q: How did you end up on Patrick Carney’s (The Black Keys) label Audio Eagle Records?

A: He just kind of saw us around on one our tour stops on the area and checked out our Myspace. We were the first band he signed that wasn’t from Ohio.

Q: What’s in the future for Royal Bangs?

A: We’re going to finish the scheduled dates of our US tour, maybe play SXSW this year and then tour around Europe for a while before we drop our next album.

Q: How’s that coming? Have you started it?

A: “We’ve been working on some demos on our holiday break. Maybe two songs have been fleshed out but that’s it for now. We plan on recording the whole thing by ourselves like we did with the first album.”

Q: Is there any significance to the name Royal Bangs?

A: No, it just sounded cool. Back when the band first got together in high school, we were called Suburban Urchins for a while.

"I wonder what happened to the Deftones?"

Savoy

I was at work today and my buddy Brian was telling me about a dj group that will be playing at DEMF this year. If you are a fan of electronic music, then you know it has a huge influence on my life. Savoy, who come from Boulder, CO, "the land of rich hippies" mix together some poppy hooks with bass pounding electro beats. I'm digging their stuff and I am interested in seeing them live. Check them out and let me know what you think. Below are a few of their new tracks and here is their myspace: www.myspace.com/savoyband
